Didn’t receive OTP
If you cannot receive OTPs (6-digit code), follow these steps depending on what you're trying to do:
For Express Send
GCash will send OTPs for Send Money via in-app notifications instead of SMS.
Turn on GCash push notifications to receive OTPs. Learn how to enable push notifications here.
If you still don’t receive your OTP after enabling push notifications, follow the steps under Login & Other Transactions below.
For Login/Other Transactions
- Check your network signal. If you’re using GCash with a PH SIM in another country, make sure your SIM has roaming. You can’t access GCash without it.
- Turn on Airplane Mode for 5 seconds, then turn it off.
- Force close and reopen the GCash app.
- Restart your device.
- Update your GCash app.
- Make sure your SMS inbox isn't full; delete old messages if needed.
Note: You can’t receive OTPs via email for logins.
For Samsung users
If the steps above did not work, make sure you are using Samsung Messages instead of Google Messages as your default SMS app. Samsung Messages is usually pre-installed on Samsung phones. To set Samsung Messages as your default SMS app, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > then Apps.
-
Select Messages. The icon should look like the example below.
- Select Set as default.
You may also download the Samsung Messages app and set it as your default SMS app by following these steps:
- Open the Galaxy Store, then search for and select Samsung Messages.
- Tap Install, then Open.
- Review and allow the permissions, then tap OK.
- To set Messages as the default SMS app, tap Messages next to the Samsung Messages app icon, then tap Set as default.
For GSave by CIMB
Starting July 1, 2026, CIMB will change how OTPs are sent for GSave by CIMB in the GCash app.
- July 1, 2026: OTPs sent via SMS will switch to email and Viber.
- July 15, 2026: OTPs will be sent to your registered email address only. SMS and Viber will no longer be used.
