How to turn on push notifications for In‑App OTPs
GCash is making your transactions safer by switching to In-app OTP. Soon, you’ll get your OTP (one-time PIN) through push notifications, not SMS.
To enable In-app OTP, turn on your push notifications:
1. Go to Settings > Notifications
2. Find the GCash app
4. Toggle on Allow Notifications

In-app OTP lets you receive GCash OTPs in real-time through push notifications, not SMS. This makes your transactions more secure and easier!
Yes, In-app OTP is a safer way to receive your OTP. It helps prevent accidental sharing and less risk of unauthorized access to GCash.
Unfortunately, this is not possible. You need to switch on your push notifications to receive in-app OTPs.
Generally, if you turn on push notifications, you will also receive marketing and promotional messages from GCash. But, you can manage the marketing notifications you get from our GCash partners by doing this:
- Open your GCash app
- Go to Profile
- Go to Settings
- Tap Partner Notifications
Yes, you'll still get GCash push notifications even when the app isn't open.
GCash is moving to push notifications for OTPs. Soon, all users will get an in-app OTP instead of an SMS.
Only OTPs sent by GCash will be sent through push notifications. OTPs sent by our partners (e.g., BPI) may still be sent via SMS OTP.
The in-app OTP will appear as a notification banner on your phone.
You may still view your in-app OTP in the notification list of your phone. Swipe down from the top center of the screen to view your notifications.
