What is the GCash for Business Merchant Discount Rate (MDR)?
The Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) is a small percentage fee taken from every successful GCash for Business payment before it is sent to your bank. This fee covers the cost of:
- Secure payment gateway maintenance
- Bank and card network processing fees
- Platform support and daily settlement services
MDR rates per payment method
| Payment method | MDR (VAT-inclusive) |
|---|---|
| Credit & Debit Cards (Mastercard/Visa) | 3.2% |
| QRPH (e-wallets / banking apps) | 1.0% |
How MDR is charged
- Customer pays using card or QRPH.
- MDR is automatically deducted from the amount.
- The remaining amount is settled to your registered bank account.
Examples
- Card: PHP 1,000 − 3.2% (PHP 32) = PHP 968 to you
- QRPH: PHP 1,000 − 1.0% (PHP 10) = PHP 990 to you
Note: MDR is auto-deducted per transaction; you do not pay it separately or through monthly billing.
Important reminders
- MDR is charged per successful transaction.
- There is no setup or monthly MDR fee, unless stated in your merchant contract.
- The Zero MDR promo for PocketPay ended on December 4; after that, standard rates of 3.2% for cards and 1.0% for QRPH apply.
