What is Device Security?
GCash uses security features to keep your account safe. This security feature does not block your GCash account.
If you see a device security error, use an unmodified device or follow these steps to troubleshoot:
Step 1: Troubleshoot your device
- Update your device’s OS: Go to Settings > Software Update.
- Update your GCash app.
- Try to open GCash again.
- If you still cannot access GCash, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Check if your phone is jailbroken, or rooted
Jailbroken or rooted devices have altered default security settings, which can put your personal information at risk.
To check:
- Android: Settings > About Phone > Status Information (If it says CUSTOM, your device is rooted).
- iOS: Search for apps like Cydia, Sileo, or Zebra.
If you’re not sure, contact your phone’s accredited service provider.
Step 3: Check for malware
- Restart your device
- Look for signs that your phone may be jailbroken such as:
- Cydia app is installed in your phone
- Presence of unusual system apps
- Modified settings
Step 4: Check for unsecured system modification
- Go to Settings
- Look for Developer Options
- Look for OEM unlocking
- Toggle off/ switch off OEM unlocking
- Once OEM unlocking is switched off, toggle off Developer Options
- Restart your phone
- Open your GCash app again
If you still can’t log in, use an unmodified device or visit an authorized service center for help.
If you see this error, you need to disable some settings. Here’s how:
-
Disable installations from Unknown Sources
- Go to Settings, search for Unknown Sources/Apps or Untrusted Sources, and disable them.
-
Disable Developer Options
- Go to Settings, look for Developer Options, and turn it off.
- Force close and try to open the GCash app again.
If you can’t turn off these settings, contact your phone’s service provider for help.
Your device may be jailbroken, rooted, has unsafe apps, or allows unsafe installs.
To fix this, follow the steps in 1, 2, and 3. If the warning still appears, use a secure device or contact your phone’s service provider for help.
