Can’t pay using my linked debit or credit card
Your payment may fail for several reasons when you use a linked Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card to pay with Scan QR.
Note: This feature is currently available to Android users and is being rolled out gradually.
Common reasons and what you can do
-
Not enough funds or credit. Check your card’s available balance or credit limit.
- Your bank declined the payment. Contact your bank to check for blocks or limits.
- Incomplete OTP or security check. Try the payment again and complete the required verification.
- Temporary GCash, bank, or card network issue. Check your internet connection and try again later.

Choose the situation that matches your transaction.
Check your GCash Transaction History and wait for the status to update before trying again.
If you paid using a linked credit or debit card, check your bank app first. Your bank’s Credit/Debit Card Transaction History is the main reference for confirming whether your card was charged.
Check your bank app for a charge that matches the payment amount and date. It may appear as “GCash [Merchant Name]”.
Check the transaction status:
Posted/Completed: Your card was charged. Follow the steps below:
- Show the merchant these transaction details:
- Merchant name
- Amount
- Transaction date
- Transaction status
-
Ask the merchant to check if they received the payment.
If the merchant confirms the payment, you may proceed with the purchase.
If the merchant can’t confirm the payment and you need to complete your purchase, ask whether you should pay again. Before making another payment, check your card transaction status to avoid a duplicate charge.
Pending: Wait for the payment to be completed.
No transaction found: Your card may not have been charged. Check your GCash Transaction History for the payment or receipt. If the payment isn’t shown, ask the merchant whether you should try the payment again.
If the app shows Transaction Failed, check your bank app or statement to confirm whether any amount was deducted.
Check your bank or card app to see if the transaction is Pending or Posted/Completed.
If the transaction is Pending, the amount may be an authorization hold. If the payment wasn’t completed, the hold should be released based on your card issuer’s processing timeline.
If the transaction is Posted/Completed, click here to contact support. Our team will check the payment status and assist you with the next steps.
Important:
GCash will never ask for your full card number, CVV, expiry date, OTP, or MPIN. Provide only the last 4 digits of your card when reporting a concern.
Please contact your card issuer or bank immediately to report the transaction.
Your card issuer is responsible for investigating unauthorized card transactions and may initiate a dispute under the applicable Visa or Mastercard rules.
