How to manage linked debit or credit cards
You can link an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card to GCash and use it to pay by scanning a QRPH code with Scan QR.
Note: This feature is currently available to Android users and is being rolled out gradually.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- Your GCash account is Fully Verified.
- You have an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. GCash-issued or GCash co-branded Visa or Mastercard cards are not supported.
- You have a stable internet connection and can receive OTPs or security prompts from your bank.
- E-commerce or online payments are enabled for your card through your card provider.
Link a debit or credit card
You can link your card in three ways.
- Open the GCash app and log in.
- Tap Profile > My Linked Accounts.
-
Tap Credit/Debit Cards.
- Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
- Enter your card details, then tap Confirm.
- Enter the OTP or complete your bank’s security check.
-
On the GCash home screen, tap Cash In.
-
Tap Link your Debit or Credit card.
- Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions, then tap Add a Card.
- Enter your card details and complete your bank’s security check.
If your card is already linked
- Tap QR and scan the merchant’s QRPH code.
- On the payment screen, select your linked Visa or Mastercard card.
- Review the payment amount and any convenience fee.
- Tap Pay and complete the security check requested by your bank or device.
- Wait for the payment confirmation.
If your card is not linked yet
- Tap QR and scan the merchant’s QRPH code.
-
On the payment screen, tap Add under Payment Methods.
- Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
- Enter your card details and complete your bank’s security check.
After linking, your card will appear as a linked payment method. You can set it as your default card or remove it anytime.
Manage your linked cards
You can choose which linked Visa or Mastercard card GCash uses by default when you pay with Scan QR.
- Open the GCash app and log in.
- Tap Profile > My Linked Accounts.
- Tap Credit/Debit Cards.
- Select the card you want to use by default.
- Turn on Set as default payment method.
- Tap Confirm Changes.
A confirmation message will appear once your default card is set. You can still switch to another linked card before completing a payment.
If you have multiple linked cards, you can choose which card to use for a transaction.
- Scan the merchant’s QRPH code.
- On the payment screen, tap Switch Card.
- Select the Visa or Mastercard card you want to use.
- Review the payment details and tap Pay.
The selected card will be used only for that transaction unless you set it as your default card.
- Open the GCash app and log in.
- Tap Profile > My Linked Accounts.
- Tap Credit/Debit Cards.
- Select the card you want to remove.
- Tap Unlink Card and confirm.
Once successful, the card will no longer appear in your linked payment methods.
Unlinking a card does not close your bank account or cancel your card. You can link the same card again if it remains eligible.
Important reminders
- Some transactions may include a convenience fee, which is shown before you confirm the payment.
- Make sure your linked card has enough available balance or credit.
- Your bank may require additional verification, such as an OTP, biometrics, or a security app prompt.
