How to use and activate Tap to Pay
Tap to Pay lets you pay in stores (not at ATMs or online) without scanning or swiping. Use it in the GCash app or tap without opening the app or using an internet connection—no extra fees!
Requirements to use Tap to Pay
Tap to Pay is being rolled out to GCash users. Once it’s available to you, you need:
- An Android or Huawei phone. Tap to Pay is available only on these devices.
- An NFC-enabled phone. Check the list of NFC phones.
- A Fully Verified GCash account.
How to activate Tap to Pay
- Open the GCash app and log in.
- Tap View All.

Under Pay, tap Tap to Pay.
- Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Tap Proceed to activate Tap to Pay.
How to pay using Tap to Pay
You can pay in two ways:
- Open the GCash app and log in.

Hold the back of your phone near the terminal.

Wait for the Tap Confirm message.
- You will see a payment confirmation screen. You can also check your Transaction History or the receipt from the payment terminal.
You can tap your phone without opening the GCash app or using an internet connection.
- Hold the back of your phone near the payment terminal.

Confirm the payment using your fingerprint or another biometric method.

You’ll see Tap Confirmed after your biometric check is successful.
If you want to check your receipt or payment confirmation, log in to the GCash app and check your Transaction History. You can also check the receipt from the payment terminal.
If you see this prompt: “Tap to Pay is currently unavailable.” Open the GCash app, log in, and check your balance before trying again.
