Different banks have different methods of verification. The most common is through One-Time-Pin (OTP). Depending on your card issuer (bank), you will proceed with different methods of verification.
How to verify your MasterCard/Visa card through ‘microcharge’
Step 1. To verify your card through charge, go to the menu on the upper left corner of the GCash dashboard. Select ‘My Linked Accounts’, and then 'My Bank Cards.'
Step 2. Select your card that has been enrolled but not verified. Select ‘Verify Card’.
Step 3. For your security, we will verify that you are the owner of the card. A small charge will be made to your card and you will temporarily be deducted a minimal amount (between PHP 0.01 - 1.99).
You can check the amount charged through the following channels:
- Logging into your Online Banking account through the website or app and checking the transaction history
- Through SMS/Email notification sent by your bank on the charged amount
- By reviewing your Statement of Account issued by the bank
Input the charged amount and select ‘Verify’. You will receive an SMS notification to confirm your card verification status.
Verify your Mastercard/Visa card through ‘OTP’ (One-Time-Pin)
Step 1. To verify your card through OTP, go to the menu on the upper left corner of the GCash dashboard. Select ‘My Linked Accounts’, and then 'My Bank Cards.'
Step 2. Select your card that has been enrolled but not verified. Select ‘Verify Card’. Input your CVV code (3-digit code found at the back of your card), and select ‘submit’.
Step 3. Input the OTP code sent through SMS to your mobile number registered with your bank.
Note: Be sure to update your registered mobile number (URL link to FAQ “I did not receive the One-Time-Pin (OTP) code sent from my bank. What do I do?”) with your bank to receive this OTP. Call or visit a branch near you to update your details.
Once you have completed the verification process, you will receive an SMS notification to confirm your card verification status.
